Ceremony & Reception

Everyone is looking forward to a heartfelt ceremony, simple and meaningful, just the way a 50-year love story deserves. Afterward, the celebration will continue with a reception featuring dinner, warm conversation, a bit of dancing, and plenty of memory sharing. Good food, good company, and a lifetime of stories to tell.. as it doesn’t get much better than that.

The Original 'Event Details'

Joyce and Dan were married in a Saturday afternoon ceremony at 4:00 p.m. in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Cestohowa. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Reverend Alphonse Padalecki and the Reverend Julius Dworaczyk before an altar beautifully arranged with white gladioli and pom-pom mums accented with jade leaves.

The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isidore Pruski of Pawelekville, wore a white silk organza gown featuring a wedding band neckline, short sleeves trimmed in Alençon lace, and an A-line skirt flowing into a chapel train. A Juliet cap of matching lace held her floor-length illusion veil. She carried a bouquet of yellow rosebuds, daisies, stephanotis, and baby’s breath with white lace streamers.

Her sister, Josie, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids wore pastel gingham sun dresses with four-tiered ruffles, white hats with matching ribbons, and carried baskets of spring flowers. Shelly Laskowski was flower girl, dressed like the bridesmaids, and Frank Ralph Dodge III served as ring bearer. Richard, the groom’s brother, was best man, with several groomsmen from San Antonio and Falls City.

The reception followed at Cestohowa Hall. A classic “Lady Windermere” wedding cake featured four double-layer cakes surrounding a 16-inch center tier, decorated in white icing piped in Venetian lace and adorned with pastel sweetpeas, forget-me-nots, tulle, and musical cherubs. It was crowned with a crystal brandy snifter holding a bridal pair among wedding blossoms. The groom’s cake showcased two large interlocking rings with a miniature kissing couple at the center.

A generous supper of barbecue beef, sausage, beans, cabbage slaw, potato salad, combination salad, and cakes was served to 1,100 guests, a true community celebration. After a wedding trip to Florida, the couple made their home in San Antonio.
